Meet Nathan
Starting from humble beginnings, Nathan Schmid, who only began training for triathlons and running in February 2023, is embarking on an incredible journey of endurance and determination.
For the entire month of April, Nathan will take on the extraordinary challenge of completing an Olympic triathlon every single day. This consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run daily—pushing his physical and mental limits to the extreme.

Not Your Average Endurance Athlete
Nathan isn’t your run-of-the-mill endurance athlete. He wasn’t born with elite genetics, he didn’t grow up obsessed with fitness, and he definitely wasn’t always built for triathlons. In fact, not too long ago, he was carrying extra weight, partying hard, and never considered himself much of an athlete.
But what he lacked in natural ability, he made up for in sheer determination. He’s never been the fastest guy in the race, but he’s the one who refuses to quit. Day in, day out, he grinds—pushing past exhaustion, self-doubt, and pain to prove that mental toughness beats talent every time.

Why On Earth Is He Doing This?
Men’s mental health is in crisis. Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian men, yet too many suffer alone, feeling like they have to tough it out in silence. Nathan knows that struggle—he’s seen it, he’s felt it, and now he’s doing something about it.
Through the Daily Grind Challenge, Nathan is turning pain into purpose—raising funds and awareness for the Better Bloke Project so that more men get the support they need before it’s too late.
